How do we create a hook at the end of a chapter that makes sure the reader stays intrigued? Is there some sort of formula to it? What is it about hooks that pull you in and don’t let go?
It’s all about how you tell the story. At the end of each chapter you should tease your reader in a way that makes them want more. So how do we do it?
- End your chapter with a MYSTERY
Give your reader something to figure out. Their curiosity will get the better of them.
- Your protagonist has found a dead and decomposing body and it’s falling apart, but who is it? Is it the missing person they’ve been searching for? Tell them in the next chapter.
- Your protagonist just drank a potion without realizing it. She faints. What potion was it? Will she be alright? Tell…
